What is it like to lead marketing in a startup?

Oct. 29, 2017

Founded in 2016, Spaceti is one of the first firms to offer full IoT navigation for smart buildings that combines both hardware and software elements. Its mission is to radically redefine how people interact with buildings; increasing security and comfort while simultaneously providing an effective building management tool. Spaceti has offices in Prague (HQ), London, Zurich, and Berlin.

What is it like to lead marketing in a startup?
Aneta is the head of marketing at Spaceti and she sees her work as her mission with the goal of digitizing buildings around the world using IoT. She studied at the Czech Technical University (ČVUT), the University of Economics Prague (VŠE), and Taipei Tech. Previously, Aneta was responsible for Business Development at IBM. She loves to ski in the winter and wakeboard in summer. When she needs inspiration, she plays the piano.

What is behind the start-up’s success?

It’s our team. Many of us give Spaceti all our free time. It always surprises me how much we accomplish in a single day. Changes, even fundamental ones, happen every day. We know how to incorporate demands from our clients in a matter of hours, but sometimes it’s not that easy. That means you need to completely shift your priorities at a moment’s notice and change your schedule for the coming days. I’ve seen my fair share of difficult situations at Spaceti, but we always helped each other in the tough times. It’s all based on mutual respect, which is necessary considering we’re in contact 24/7. “That means you need to completely shift your priorities at a moment’s notice and change your schedule for the coming days.”

Why do you like working for a start-up?

It’s an unending carousel of events. It’s like a shot of adrenaline. Every day is different and we squeeze as much as we can out of every one. One day we’re presenting a product to a big corporation, the next you’re flying abroad to set up a key partnership, and on the third you’re presenting at a big conference. People from start-ups adapt quickly and get the most out of every moment. The thing I love the most is the constant immersion in new ideas and information and how quickly we can realize those ideas with the team because we not held back by any obstacles.

How can having more women help start-ups?

The start-up scene needs more enthusiastic people who believe in their projects and who want to create a better future for people. It doesn’t matter if they are men or women.
